Significance of of a Good Barber and the Human Connection

Believe it or not, mostly everyone has experienced something at one time or another, a brief moment where they have tried to style or cut their own hair or cut someone else’s hair. Cutting hair is often a universal skill that can be used literally ALL through the world, especially if it is well known how to cut all textures of hair.

I am a licensed Master Barber with over 23 years of barbering experience. I am very thankful for discovering the craft and I am very excited to have the capability to share with everyone the proper information regarding how to become a barber. First of all, to be able to to ask yourself:

“Why do you want to be a barber?” I needed to become a barber for the independence, flexibility, the people you meet, the income, the diversity and more. The reason I say ask yourself this question is must be lot of people THINK they want to become barbers and then everything doesn’t happen like they thought they would and then they want to stop and get started pursuing other ventures. Your reason for wanting to become a barber has to be so strong enough in which you won’t let any sort of negativity or doubt come into your mind and stop you from becoming a barber.

After get figured the “why”, an additional is unearth a school or local barbershop the apprenticeship program. If you choose to go to school, you will earn your license by attending school for 9 months to 2 years. The sheer number of time it requires for a person to finish school depends on if you go to school full time or part-time. Once you have completely finished your hours and passed the exam, THE WORLD IS One!!

If you choose an apprenticeship, make sure it can be an established barbershop location make sure that you won’t be wasting period and. The person knowledge under always be the owner. The owner probably won’t bail on you any time soon. Barber employees come and go too often to risk an apprenticeship under one. If you work your owner, your chances might be described as a little bit greater for success as a student. I was lucky and worked under a gentle barber. But he too eventually left the shop, but not before I finished the program.

Apprenticeship programs are n’t invariably free. Sometimes the barber you work under may charge you a weekly fine. After all, he paid for license too. Make sure the fee is great. $25-$50 a week. Also be sure to keep copies of quite transcripts if your Master Barber starts to keep a change of heart in order to jealousy. Sometimes when your clientele sets out to pick up or your skills start to obtain better, the master Barber will get a little jealous. So be careful and not try too tough to outshine the master! HA HA HA!!!!!!

Starting out, commission is the best until you’re able build up a potential consumers. Commission is when the owner gets a split on every haircut that you cut. For example, if your haircut is $10, along with the split is 60/40. He’s going to get $4.00 (40%) might get $6.00 (60%). This is great when you are just getting and you’re to get a clientele. Now once your split for the owner passes $200 7 days (50 haircuts a week),you need to request booth rental. At 50 haircuts a week on a 60/40 split, the owner makes $200(less products) as well as make $300. But don’t forget, when you find yourself on commission, the owner is needed to supply you with most of your reserves. But it comes a reason for commission structure when this it is not worth paying more than $300-$500 full week in rates.

Commissions keeps a barber saddled with the hip of the owner. Booth rental is tons smoother. Most of the time, in case you pay for a booth, you decide to work when you want to as long as you meet your weekly booth rental quota and that’s all. Booth rent should begin lower and increase over a 3-6 month period. An easily affordable booth rental starting out is $100.00 week. Some shops charge as much as $300.00 7 days. You can make $2,000 a week and only pay $150.00 to $300.00 a week, and consider home about $1,500 to $1,700 and that’s it. If one makes $2,000 full week on a commission structure, you keep 60% that’s about $1,000 to $1,200.

When doing a new shop, you shouldn’t be over ready. You have to make certain that the shop will be a good fit for your where you are to goes. Some barbers prefer to cut white hair, some barbers prefer to cut black hair, and some barbers want diversity. But at the end of the day, that exactly what is delicious about our barber industry!! However you choose to pursue it, it is all up you. I LOVE IT!!

Unless purchase some designer swimwear to be working for a key corporation, would not have high expectations as far as framework of most barbershops. You’ll find a great barbershop maybe 1 away from 50. When i state great, I am talking about the lease is paid on time, the light bill pays on time, the water is hot, the heat and a/c works, the owner is not sparatically increasing booth rental, you have supplies to sell for extra income, health plan, customer service, nice decor, clean atmosphere and anything else that is often a benefit. I simply gave an example of maybe 1 shop out of 50 which has been structured this way.
